We asked some Queenstown Locals to tell us what they would do if they only had a day or a weekend to spend in Queenstown, NZ…Read on for some juicy insider tips!
Queenstown-born, been and gone – now back for the foreseeable future. As a contributor to Queenstown Insider I am putting my hometown knowledge to good use about what I know and love -am into spiritual growth in varied forms, creativity in all its forms, going to special places, fairies, incense, Turkish delight, dancing at all times and old skool hip hop. I have a degree in psychology and a post grad dip. in guidance and counselling – so I also have a passion for working with people through life challenges. I am a mum to one beautiful baby girl, Milly Maree. I believe that we are here to grow and our teachers come in all forms, my daughter is my greatest teacher! Family, friends and experiences are what matter most to me.
You can find more about me on my facebook page and on my website.
If you had the day to yourself and $200 to spend what would you do?
Some kind of lush retreat that included yoga, yummy food, relax massage and beauty treatments, beautiful scenery and a rave out dance session at the end! Wait, that might cost more then $200 – was getting carried away!
Queenstown on a budget? How would you spend the day without breaking the bank?
Hit one of the epic walking tracks, sit by the lake, visit the Botanical Gardens and have a picnic.
If you had time to visit only one tourist attraction, what would you visit and why?
Definitely one of the bungy options. So exhilarating and challenging to the natural human instinct of survival!
What’s your favourite outdoor activity in Queenstown?
Snowboarding in the winter, walking and enjoying the many river spots for a swim in the summer.
Where would you grab a few late night drinks?
Don’t drink! But I like to go for a dance at The World, nothing has replaced places like Tardis and Debajo– am an old school local and haven’t really ventured into town since these institutions died! I will go to a good gig though, usually held at Loco.
What is your best kept Queenstown insider tip?
Get a gingerbread hot chocolate from Cookie Time – they are so dope! (Also -Pssst Fergburger ain’t all that! It was waaay better when it was down in Cowlane back in the good ol days. Clearly, I haven’t moved on!).
