What adventure would be complete without a Beanie or Bikini?
Hey! My name is Nikki, I’m 25 years old from Canada. I came over to New Zealand for my 2-year working holiday visa. Once I got to Queenstown, it stole my heart and I couldn’t leave. So I’ve devoted a year and 8 months living in this beautiful place and having absolutely nothing bad to say about it! You can find me online on Instagram & Facebook.
If you had the day to yourself and $200 to spend what would you do?
I would wake up and head over to my favorite place to get breakfast, Rehab. I’m a huge health freak and Rehab has the healthiest, vegan-friendly, superfood-enriched meals and smoothies in Queenstown. After that, I’d definitely go to Torpedo7 or any bike shop to rent a mountain bike! I absolutely love the adventures in the outdoors and mountain biking speaks to my soul. Spending a good 4-5 hours out in the mountains would get me absolutely worn out. After that, of course I’d head over to Onsen Hot pools where I would lounge in the hot tubs and relax all the muscles I’ve used during mountain biking. I’d probably be pretty hungry at this point where a good meal in town would make me very happy. At dinner time, I’d head over to Pub on Wharf where I could listen to my favorite reggae music and eat a delicious meal. Let’s eat outside of course, I love the fresh air.
Queenstown on a budget? How would you spend the day without breaking the bank?
Queenstown has many gorgeous Hiking trails. It doesn’t matter which way you look at the Remarkables, you will always have a great view. Hike on up there and check out how beautiful New Zealand is! Every Saturday there’s a Market in town, I always love checking out what new items the locals have created with their magical hands. For dinner, let’s barbeque some fresh veggies at home so we don’t break the bank. We can invite friends over, listen to some music and have a fabulous night!
If you had time to visit only one tourist attraction, what would you visit and why?
The Canyon Swing by far! I haven’t done it yet, but I’ve heard great things. The swing isn’t something that is everywhere in the world, especially in a canyon type formation that we have in Queenstown. Bungee jumping or sky-diving can happen anywhere in the world, but the swing is something pretty special.
What’s your favourite outdoor activity in Queenstown?
I love snowboarding! I love the adrenaline of speeding down the hill. Queenstown is the best place in the world because we’ve got a full summer of mountain biking and hiking, and a full winter of snowboarding and dog sledding. It’s a place where you pretty much can’t get bored.
Where’s your go-to spot for a quick bite to eat on the go?
Rehab, by far! As they say, your body’s a temple and we’ve got to feed it properly. Rehab is the healthiest place to eat in Queenstown! Healthy meals, vegan-friendly, superfood-enriched, good customer service and my tummy always leave’s happy.
Where would you grab a few late night drinks?
Good evening The World Bar, you’re my favourite place to grab a drink and hangout with friends. I love the atmosphere, the hipster/wooden/chill out vibe. The teacup cocktails are pretty darn cute as well.
What is your best kept Queenstown insider tip?
My insider tip is to come in the Spring or Autumn. The hardest part about coming to Queenstown in the busy seasons is the lack of available jobs and housing. Save yourself the stress and come in the quiet seasons where you can get yourself set up for the future crazy and awesome busy seasons!.
